GOBDF serves patients with factor deficient bleeding disorders in 52 Ohio counties. All patients must have their diagnosis confirmed by their HTC or healthcare team prior to being added to the database or receiving services.

Medical ID
GOBDF provides a variety of Medical ID’s including bracelets, dog tags, seatbelt covers, and more with a maximum of one per year. For more information contact Liz Brett
Wellness Programs
GOBDF aims to assist our members through supporting a healthy lifestyle. In addition to organized youth and adult golf clinics, we also offer assistance in covering costs for participation in safe sports and activities as approved or recommended by your HTC.
Benefits include up to $250 per patient with a maximum of $400 per household. liz@gobdf.org
Educational Scholarships
GOBDF provides educational support up to $500 to children and adults with a qualifying bleeding disorder. These funds can be used towards tuition, books, tutoring, and continuing education. Priority is given to post-secondary students. Checks will be made out directly to the educational institution. liz@gobdf.org
Emergency Financial Assistance
GOBDF offers last resort financial assistance to people with bleeding disorders for emergency expense needs that arise because of complications directly related to their bleeding disorder. Eligible families can request this assistance once per calendar year, up to $500 with a household lifetime cap of $2,000. All submissions must be submitted via your HTC social worker. Tanya Stewart.
Counseling
GOBDF knows that dealing with a chronic condition can take an emotional toll on patients and caregivers. We offer up to $400 per individual with a qualifying bleeding disorder or their caregiver to assist with costs associated with individual or family counseling. These funds may cover co-pays, partial or full costs associated with the visits. liz@gobdf.org
Camp Scholarships
Camp can be a great way for our kids and young adults to connect with each other. GOBDF will assist with camp fees to bleeding disorders and rare disease specific camps for patients, 6-17 yrs old. Some camps offer siblings the opportunity to attend as well. GOBDF will assist with transportation when possible. taylor@gobdf.org
Dental Program
Families without access to dental coverage may be eligible for Delta Dental insurance. Enrollment fee is $50 per person with a bleeding disorder and $200 for additional family members in the household with a family maximum of $650.

Conference Travel Scholarships
We are fortunate in our community to have many opportunities to connect and learn together with patients across the country at annual educational conferences like NBDF’s Bleeding Disorders and Rare Bleeding Disorders Conferences and HFA’s Symposium.
GOBDF offers educational participant scholarships for members with a qualifying bleeding disorder and their families, when applicable. Scholarship recipients will be determined through an equitable selection process conducted by a volunteer review team. Members must have an immediate family member affected with a bleeding disorder AND living in their household. Priority will be given to new families or families who have not received a scholarship in the past.
What the Scholarship Covers: This is a reimbursement scholarship with a maximum amount of up to $1,000 for an individual or $2,000 for a family.
- Funds may be used to cover the following:
- Airfare or mileage
- Hotel, for a maximum of three nights
- Registration Fee
- Airport Transportation
- Meals are not reimbursable, as most meals are sponsored at the conference
Travel Stipends to Medical Appointments or Regional Educational Programs
GOBDF aims to remove any travel barriers when it comes to getting to and from medical appointments related to your bleeding disorder by offering mileage reimbursement, gas cards or ride share gift certificates. Proof of appointment may be required. We also value our state and neighboring Chapter’s programs. When participation is open to our members to attend regional trainings or educational meetings, members can be reimbursed for travel to those meetings up to $250 per year. We will reimburse at the medical rate of .22 per mile per IRS guidelines. Please fill out this form and email to Liz Brett
Invitations to Educational and Social Programs and Events
At GOBDF, our social and educational programs and events are designed to educate, enrich lives, and build connections. Participants in our programs gain access to a wealth of resources, including expert speakers, educational materials, and support services. These resources can provide you with valuable insights and tools to help you navigate various aspects of your bleeding disorder. Program opportunities include an Annual Education Weekend, Family Camp, Teen Retreat, Women’s Programming, a Holiday Party and so much more!
